AFS Fraud Analysis and Detection Analyst

In a nutshell

As the Fraud Analysis & Detection Analyst for Argos Financial Services (AFS), you will ensure we maximise data capability to optimise the effectiveness of the AFS Fraud Strategy and Policy. You’ll support in the reduction of fraud risk through effective management and monitoring of models and systems in place. This varied role is based at our Bolton office and includes occasional travel to our Widnes site. We are open to discussions around part-time hours & flexible working.

What you need to do

Carry out the on-going review, validation and optimisation of fraud system performance using data analytics.
Complete, review and validate analysis undertaken as part of the annual review of system settings/rules, and subsequently validate any amendments implemented.
Design, implement and validate new rules/settings in response to threats.
Maintain and analyse regular reporting to monitor key controls.
Drive internal systems optimisation or work with our outsource suppliers to identify, monitor and resolve fraud systems performance issues, gaps and tuning opportunities.
Conduct one-off extraction and analysis of fraud-related data in support of specific investigations or emerging threats as requested by 1st or 2nd line Financial Crime teams and subsequently participate in any relevant meetings/steering groups.
Coordinate all aspects of system governance and supplier liaison for AFS fraud systems.

Maintain a central audit trail of all fraud-related system rules/referral settings (and changes to those settings) together with the underlying rationale.

Evaluate, analyse and leverage a range of statistical and written information to recommend, review and implement decisions that will have a positive impact on the P&L.

Baseline current decisioning performance, track and report on model effectiveness.

Provide analysis of the latest trends in fraud at an industry level.
Ensure our Conduct Risk Framework is embedded within our fraud strategies.
Work with the Supplier Risk Management (SRM) team to support the deployment of the SRM framework for Sainsbury's Bank partners and suppliers related to Financial Crime.
Produce Financial Crime management information for risk governance meetings.

What you need to know and show

Intermediate SQL skills, with the ability to run existing scripts & find solutions to build script for new queries.

Experience of analytics/intelligence work and linked predictive modelling, obtained in one or more of the following environments;

1st or 2nd Line Financial Crime or Risk function
Specialist FC/Risk consulting firm
Specialist Financial crime or risk decisioning system supplier

Effective interpersonal skills.
