Project Manager

In a nutshell

You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of one or more projects on the Sainsbury’s Bank Argos Financial Services (SBAFS) change portfolio, through working collaboratively with other Technology colleagues, project stakeholders including those in the wider Sainsbury’s Group, and third-party suppliers.

This roles can be based from our Milton Keynes or Widnes offices.

What success looks like?

You’ll drive the successful delivery of the change portfolio, producing outcomes that provide value to our customers.

What you’ll be doing

Working collaboratively with project stakeholders to effectively shape, mobilise and deliver project outcomes to agreed budget.
Assigning tasks to project team members. You may have direct line management responsibility for several team members.
Leading and inspiring high-performing, cross-functional & multi-skilled change delivery teams to successfully deliver customer value.
Defining and managing project resource requirements.
Managing project budgets (currently up to £500k, but potential in large strategic projects to be greater), ensuring risks and opportunities are communicated to the Project Sponsor and Steering Groups.
Managing the risk profile of the project utilising established risk, issue, assumption and dependency management techniques.
Managing the successful transition of change into BAU, ensuring the risk profile is understood and agreed by relevant stakeholders.
Leveraging agile delivery techniques to accelerate change velocity and quality, ensuring customer value is delivered often and early.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders within Sainsbury’s Group and third-party suppliers.
Supporting the continuous improvement of change delivery within SBAFS through retrospectives, post-implementation reviews and knowledge sharing.

What you need to know and show

You must be able to challenge colleagues in a collaborative and constructive manner, have the courage to pose questions to ensure the right, fact-based decisions are always made. You must be able to represent and understand the perspective of internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent relationship management skills, including a proven ability to influence at a Senior Management level across a diverse group.
Demonstrate experience in negotiating trade-offs between stakeholders, to achieve a minimum viable proposition.

Experience leading the end-to-end delivery of change projects combining both IT and business change components.
Demonstrate a strong record of a self-starter approach to change.
Experienced in Agile methods (SCRUM, SAFe etc.) and waterfall hybrid environments.
Experience working with third-party suppliers in a primarily outsourced environment.
Your leadership style should be enabling, empowering and authentic.
