Here in the Planning team, we’re at the centre of the marketing department. We’re responsible for translating the business strategy into a marketing plan that delights our customers and delivers against our objectives. Our plan ensures that we deliver the right message to the right customers through the right channels and at the right time.
We develop a myriad of campaign briefs from Christmas, to Sale, from Spring Refresh to School Shop always aligning our plans to customer missions and mindsets. We work on big business opportunities for our brands; Tu, Argos and Sainsbury’s Home and work closely with our colleagues in our food business to maximise opportunities across the Sainsburys Group.
In our team we are curious: we start with why and we’re comfortable not knowing all the answers. We innovate and have strong networks across the business, which we can call upon for support. We are the story tellers driving the narrative for the business with our plans. We answer: “where are we heading and what will we be communicating to customers and when”.
We value that everyone brings something unique and individual to the team. This is reflected in the broad mix of experience and skills that we have with backgrounds in Marketing, Commercial, Strategy, Digital, Operations and Stores. You will be joining a driven, supportive, growing and committed team who take pride in doing a great job
As the Campaign and Category Planning manager your role will have 2 clear areas; Deliver insight led, customer focused, commercially andastute marketing plans that will engage our customers and to work on specific projects (be it category, proposition, brand or service-related) – working closely with relevant teams to ensure the project lands successfully).
You will manage your team in collation of information that supports the creation and implementation of the plans by gathering the required insights, whilst continuing to look externally by keeping up to date with the market to understand opportunities and risks to the plans.
We are looking for candidates with curiosity and are therefor comfortable asking ‘why’ and interrogating the assumed status quo. Ideally you will have the ability to be able to flex between longer-term planning and delivery in the here and now; in particular project managing others – ensuring they’re adhering to deadlines whilst managing and priorotising workload on an ongoing basis and showing the flexibility to respond to business needs.
We know that candidates may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not apply and see how it goes?
