When I started working part-time at Argos at age 16, I quickly decided that I wanted to succeed in business. So rather than go to university, which had been my plan, I decided to focus on a career here.
“The company was behind my progression all the way – from when I was a Customer Advisor all the way through to becoming Store Manager. They were just as supportive while I undertook NVQs in both Retail and Management, offering me a number of complementary in-house courses. By supplying these tools, and guiding me along the way, I feel they enabled me to unlock my potential.”
“I’d say their approach has paid off. I won Regional Apprentice of the Year (having already won Argos Apprentice of the Year), beating candidates from a number of other companies. But for me, the key moment was when I opened my first store as Manager, because that’d been my aim since I was young. And while I’m happy I’ve already achieved this goal, I don’t plan on standing still. Ideally, my next step is to become a Regional Manager, in charge of developing and opening more stores.”
