Senior Trading Manager

As Senior Trading Manager, you will provide the primary day-to-day interface between Argos Financial Services and Argos Trading & Commercial Planning areas, to drive forward our key KPIs, you will provide FS representation into the category strategy and commercial planning cycle within Argos. In this role, you will report into the Head of Trading Development.

You will ensure our customers are surfaced relevant and compelling financial services products that help them to afford and protect their purchases and work closely with Argos colleagues to place FS products that truly meet the needs of our customers, for purchase of specific categories and transaction sizes.

As Senior Trading Manager, you will:

Plan and measure the impact of category level promotional credit campaigns, executing the promotions through the AFS Marketing team. This might be through enhanced promotional credit offers, cash back or introductory offers.
Structure the Trading plan to complement, enhance and build upon the retailer’s promotional campaigns through relevant channels.
Drive store card recruitment and warranty sales though the development and delivery of fully integrated commercial plans.
Integrate yourself into the Argos Commercial Planning team providing FS input, ensuring FS products are integrated into category activity and key promotional events where appropriate.
Lead collaboration and integration between FS and key category Trading areas, integrating credit and warranty promotion and margin considerations into category planning, ensuring the promotion of credit and warranties is considered in all areas of commercial planning.
Be responsible for identifying trading opportunities through regular analysis of trading patterns to maximize AFS KPIs.
Be the day-to-day contact for Trading teams to ensure AFS sales are maximized through trading opportunities (such as new product launches) and development and deployment of credit tactical plans to meet Retail sales objectives.
Develop and regularly share the AFS Trading annual plan covering the key trading initiatives that will help deliver AFS KPIs.
Deliver the commercial benefit to the Argos Commercial teams to raise awareness, engagement and to maximize trading opportunities.
Regularly review key competitors and the wider market, sharing with the team to ensure we are suitably competing and adapting trading plans where necessary.
Identify new opportunities to promote credit and warranties to the maximum potential, propose actions and work collaboratively with retail teams including Trading, Marketing, Digital and Operations to take advantage of these opportunities.
Represent our wider interests in any negotiations for promotional space within existing (such as catalogue) and new channels (such as store-in-store).

As Senior Trading Manager, you will have:

Experience of retail trading within a digital environment.
A sales-driven leadership style.
Strong commercial acumen.
Demonstrable strategic planning skills.
An appreciation for the control environment within a financial services organisation.
A strong desire to understand conduct risk, specifically the delivery of fair customer outcomes.
Strong numerical skills with the ability to robustly analyse and interpret complex market and financial data.
Strong relationship development and influencing skills, as you will have to develop strong working relationships with trading teams and across trading cells.
A proven ability to influence at peer level and upwards and flex style accordingly.
A professional qualification or Post Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline.
