We are looking for an exceptional Senior Strategy Development Manager to join the End to End Strategic Initiatives team.
The team’s purpose is to challenge the business to do things better – shining a light on the way that things are done today, and using data to influence our priorities to ensure we continuously improve our customers’ experience and profitability across our different shopping channels.
The team generates and delivers customer and business opportunities and solves problems that support the strategic priorities of the business. The team works cross-functionally with key operational and development teams in the business on initiatives that don’t naturally sit within a single function, or that don’t have clear ownership or the necessary traction.
Key objectives for the team are:
Bring an independent, objective and data driven approach to drive value creation through improvements to customer journeys or colleague efficiency that deliver improved sales and profitability
Focus on long-term impact and value, but promote tactical change where appropriate
Create friction free customer journeys, fix pain points, eliminate drop out, increase conversion and make shopping simple and easy for our customers
Identify opportunities using data driven decisions to simplify process, reduce cost and improve profit within our operating model
Resolve inherent tensions between functions, align on root causes and solutions and drive accountability back into the functional teams
We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Development Manager. We're looking for someone from a diverse business background with either a strategy consulting skill set and/or project & programme management to come and join our team and build on our existing skill sets and experience.
While the End to End Strategic Initiatives team is primarily structured around the main customer shopping missions, (Store collection, Home Delivery, Stock and Returns) we apply ourselves to any part of the business to lead and/or support other teams in delivering solutions
What I need to do
Reporting into the Head of End to End Strategic Initiatives, you will identify, organise and drive change that will deliver material end to end improvements and business value:
Lead the resolution of key strategic customer questions, identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience and operating model
Lead cross functionally to drive and deliver the required end to end improvements to our business. Depending on the project you could be working with any combination of teams across the business from IT to digital, stores to distribution, finance to marketing.
Use data to drive decision making, both customer research and quantitative data.
Challenge the status quo in the business and simplify complexity where possible.
Work with and influence the executive directors and other senior managers in the business to deliver tangible results.
Work closely with the Head of End to End Strategic Initiatives and deputise for them at key meetings e.g. Project Steering Groups etc.
What I need to Know
A proven track record working of cross functionally to deliver significant change and continuous improvement, taking people with them along the way.
Extensive experience leading projects (typically 6-10 years) to meet milestones, targets and budgets.
Financial and commercial acumen, able to understand cost and margin drivers within the business and impact of any proposed changes.
Strong analytical, critical questioning, problem solving and process improvement skill set.
Strategy consulting and/or project & programme management in a fast moving retail environment is highly desirable.
