The role of Accounting Finance Manager is to lead financial planning, reporting, control and compliance processes for Sainsbury’s Argos complex business areas – Direct Imports and Argos for Business. You will provide input and support the company’s commercial and strategic decision making processes including inputs into Strategic Planning, Final Pricing and Trading Board forums. In this role, you will also have accountability in leading external / internal audit processes for each relevant business area.
As Accounting Finance Manager, you will lead, coach and motivate a team of four individuals and report directly into the Financial Accounting Controller.
As Financial Accounting Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
To deliver period, quarter and yearly reporting for Direct Imports and Argos for Business operations, (P&L, Balance sheet & Cash), analysing commercial drivers for exec, audit and external stakeholders.
Deliver appropriate financial control and technical knowledge to ensure Sainsbury’s Argos adhere to Financial regulations and are in line with Sainsbury’s Group accounting policies.
To deliver budgets, forecasts and strategic plans for Direct Imports and Argos for Business operations to enable management to make decisions based upon the most up to date and accurate views of current and future performance.
To provide accounting expertise and control of operational processes relating to Direct Imports / Argos for Business to ensure accurate and representative profit & loss/balance sheet and the management of all risks and opportunities.
Areas of responsibility include: Direct Imports / Argos for Business / Strategic Assumptions for Costing Model and Final Pricing.
Your skills & experience will include:
Qualified Finance Professional - ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
Possess strong technical / financial accounting understanding.
Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner.
Strong analytical skills, Excel skills and attention to detail.
Strong commercial acumen, curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries.
Be assertive, challenging and confident with strong inter-personal skills.
Experience of working with and presenting analytical results to Non-Finance users.
Sound coaching and team leadership and development skills.
Experience in a large company environment, preferably retail but not essential.
