Exciting opportunity to join the Sainsbury’s Argos Marketing Finance Team reporting into the Marketing & Digital Finance Manager.
At Sainsbury’s Argos, the great digital transformation is under way. It’s our aim to become the digital market leader in choice, value and convenience, so our Finance teams are more important to us now than ever before. They’re the people who provide support across the business and help make the crucial decisions that will allow us to develop into a leading digital retailer.
We have joined Sainsbury’s in our journey to become a leading retail organisation and ensuring we place our customers at the heart of everything we do. Together we have a great opportunity to build a brilliant future and do a fantastic job for all our customers.
The role sits within the Marketing Finance team, which is responsible for business partnering the Marketing Director and Digital Director. The team is responsible for everything from modelling and supporting our promotional plans to being the gatekeepers to ensure we maintain spending within budget. Each day we are becoming more and more aligned with the commercial trading teams and are always evolving the insight we provide as to the level of marketing investment we give to each of the trading categories and through which marketing channel this is executed. Recently, as a result of a zero-based budgeting exercise, we have restructured the marketing budget to optimise it. As a result, the level of media spend and the shape of it year on year has changed significantly which brings challenges in how we triangulate our investment with the company sales performance on a weekly basis. Couple this with a competitive retail environment and you have a team that is at the forefront of investment decisions to drive performance.
Every day is a new day in Marketing and you will quickly adapt to the fast paced but enjoyable environment of which we operate within Argos. It is important to keep on your toes as you never know what promotion or campaign might be around the corner in a very competitive retail market. As the Marketing Finance Analyst, you will run the day to day activities business partnering over 100 marketing colleagues ensuring they are comfortable with their budget and spend. On a weekly basis, you will have promotional reporting responsibilities that will review how the promotions performed in the previous week whether that be a TV advert we have run or a larger campaign such as our Christmas Gift Guide. Part of the role involves refining processes around how we track our promotional performance and surface insightful data on a timely basis that aids future decision making. You will also have a close link into day to day trading so will need an awareness of company performance.
Your skills and expertise will include:
Ideally be a fully Qualified Accountant with relevant post qualification experience.
Experience of working with non-financial stakeholders.
Strong communication skills.
Good excel skills and the ability to work with large volumes of data.
