In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the business in the reporting and analysis of key strategic projects, change initiatives and small business cases. You will also support and develop consideration of cost reporting improvements including the introduction of driver-based performance and the production of driver-based costs.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities will include:
Supporting the strategic planning initiatives in the understanding, tracking and reporting of performance against key targets. This will mean working closely across the Argos Financial Services stakeholders to agree latest positions.
Supporting the business in verification of business cases and outcomes of operational efficiencies versus agreed challenges, including reconciliation of cost information and communication of latest positions.
Development of driver based reporting to ensure key link between operational performance and costs and allowed considered decision making.
Supporting the period end process in relation to the Argos Financial Services cost base. This will include providing insight and analysis of month end results and supporting the Cost Manager and Cost Reporting Accountant in production of key reports used to explain performance and assistance in the production of key data for Sainsbury’s Bank and the AFS Board report.
Supporting the consolidation and presentation of the total AFS cost budgets and forecasts, including working with business stakeholders in the production of agreed budgets and understanding movements, providing analysis and commentary.
Control of AFS’ risks and opportunities in relation to costs. This requires strong communication skills to liaise with Analysts, Managers and Financial Controllers to flag any risks or opportunities in the forecast to the Finance Director and Group at the earliest opportunity.
Supporting the Cost Manager in half year and full year financial close. This includes supporting audit requirements and preparing outturns for submission to the Finance Director and Group functions.
Your skills & experience will include:
Working in a busy high pressure finance role, partnering with a business and working closely with non-finance colleagues.
Able to analyse data, spot trends and define clear actions.
Commercial awareness with excellent planning and organisational skills, plus an ability to balance a large range of priorities.
Effective networking and stakeholder management skills across a range of stakeholders in a range of roles, working at a range of levels.
Able to work on own initiative with drive & motivation, as well as proven experience working successfully as part of a team.
