The team is responsible for delivering cross functional, strategic initiatives focused on optimising Sainsbury’s
Argos’ ways of working. This role offers broad visibility across the business and the opportunity to make
significant impact across multiple areas. You will be leading high profile projects and challenging the
business to make customer focused, data driven decisions. You should be comfortable applying strategic
thinking but with a strong focus on delivery across multiple, cross functional teams.
The role will also require you to maintain and provide a governance framework to the Marketing Leadership
team & other stakeholders. This will consist of managing to gather the high-level overview of specific
programmes and provide timely and relevant reporting across the business up to exec level.
This role has exposure to exec and board level including group so you should feel comfortable with and
experience of managing and communicating with stakeholders at this level.
You will need to provide strong visible team leadership to the Marketing Strategic Projects team where you
are able to fully exploit the skillset & processes needed for successful programme delivery across multiple
programmes. Strong leadership skills required to manage a diverse team mix.
The key objectives of this role are:
To lead and motivate a high calibre, high performing team to deliver significant change across the business
To provide critical thinking, shape and escalation against programmes Managers in the team are leading
To lead, support and drive cross-functional initiatives that are part of the Marketing Strategy. These projects will sit with broader stakeholder groups that may or may not be under one direct team and successful delivery will depend upon strong and influential matrix management
To build strong stakeholder relationships across multi–facet teams, at all levels and to bring people together from different teams to deliver key business projects and impact
To be delivery focused – ability to take the lead in driving end to end initiatives towards both business and customer outcomes, whilst critically thinking throughout
To develop/challenge business cases and initiatives to ensure projects put the customers and the business at the centre of decisions
To provide thought leadership to support the Marketing Leadership Team
To define and maintain Terms of Reference (ToR) for governance meetings
Maintain records of governance group minutes and actions for internal audit purposes
Perform complex analysis to inform project decisions and articulate this simply to all stakeholders

DIMENSIONS (STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT)
The role holder will also need to engage at senior management level, including board, with key 3rd party partners including relevant agencies, and across group.
Role holder requires depth of experience in Strategic Programme Management. The role holder will need to
play the role of an Internal Consultant managing a vast number of high impacting programmes and
stakeholders – combination of experience in these two areas is essential to develop the strategic project
teams approach and plans.
Experience of actively managing Large scale Programmes within a large scale, data led, tech led, agile
Highly data literate, the role holder needs to be comfortable managing large scale data, and complex programmes, in order to deliver mutual business and customer value. Given leadership responsibility a working knowledge of strong Programme and Change management is essential. Strong leadership skills – ability to lead a diverse set of team members and also stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Educated to degree level, preferably in a relevant field, and a professional qualification in Project Management is desirable but not essential.
