A wide-ranging role providing financial business partnering support to Direct Insurance, Consumer Lending and Product Warranties businesses within Argos Financial Services. The role will play a key part in operational and strategic decision making, impacting the continued success and development of the division. As well as contributing to the strategic direction, the role is also responsible for maintaining a financial control framework for the businesses so that financial risks are minimised.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities will include:
Delivering financial and commercial advice on key projects and day to day matters within product care.
Evaluating new commercial proposals assessing impact on group profitability and recommending options.
Persuading, influencing and engaging multiple stakeholders with differing levels of financial knowledge.
Develop and build upon existing MI and reporting to provide insight and explain product care performance.
Challenge commercial and channel team.
Ensuring quality and relevance of information to key stakeholders meeting business needs.
Acting as key finance interface with Exec team and other senior managers.
Attending supplier meetings / conference calls to discuss financial matters.
Key finance lead on the strategic growth workstream to optimise product care performance – including business case appraisal, finance lead in project delivery and performance measurement.
Understanding balance sheet risks and opportunities.
Managing budgeting & forecasting process in for the above mentioned businesses ensuring outputs are understood by the senior financial services team.
Reviewing and commenting on monthly financial performance.
Reviewing client & supplier contracts assessing both commercial and financial elements.
Responsible for the management of 1 direct reports including performance appraisal, objective setting and regular 1-2-1’s.
Ensuring the team and key stakeholders are provided with the tools to most effectively do their job.
Build a high performing team driven toward delivering high quality outputs for their stakeholders, developing a reputation for excellence.
Your skills & experience will include:
Qualified Accountant with proven analytical and financial reporting experience.
Prior experience working in a busy finance function providing business partnering support.
Used to working within a high-pressure role and able to demonstrate resilience and tenacity.
Strong commercial acumen, curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries and ability to understand key business drivers.
Excellent planning and organisational skills, with an ability to balance a large range of priorities.
Able to analyse data, spot trends and define clear actions.
Prior line management experience preferable but not essential.
Be assertive, challenging and confident with strong inter-personal skills.
Strong excel, analytical and presentation skills, with attention to detail.
