Title: Creative Design Manager

Location: Central London

Summary of Role

This is an instrumental role in defining, developing and maintaining the handwriting of the brand.

Working across all visual elements of the brand (excluding product) you will have a strong vision for how the brand is presented across all areas, this includes online, in-store POS, photographically, within printed collateral and in customer communications.

This is a broad role for a strong creative candidate that can inspire and lead a diverse team across multiple creative disciplines.

The role will require close collaboration with the Product Design Team to ensure that the product vision and direction is integrated and consistently reflect all other visual aspects of the brand.

You will need excellent hands-on graphic design skills (digital and print and excellent Adobe Creative Suite knowledge ) alongside art-direction experience.

Key Responsibilities

Setting the visual direction for how the brand is represented; you will be accountable for delivering the creative direction through:

Digital design of the web site, social media platforms, digital advertising, digital product imagery and blog and online content

Creative asset generation and curation to support across all platforms including photography, marketing collateral and printed materials

Handwriting

Establish and maintain the brand creative handwriting across all touch points including the Habitat website, seasonal campaigns and assets, photography, direct marketing, tactical campaigns and graphic collateral for external and internal use.

The role will be the brand handwriting guardian, liaising across functions to ensure the brand creative is visually consistent across all touch points.

Team

Implement and maintain robust processes and ways of working, overseeing the end to end delivery of all creative. In order to fulfil business requirements you will need to regularly communicate with interdependent teams such as marketing, retail, digital and product design.

Provide clear creative direction to the Brand Design Team and ensure creative processes are efficient and effective, balancing deadline and quality requirements through critically evaluating work and processes.

Provide, guidance, inspiration and motivation to creative teams. Lead and nurture a creative culture within the team, focused on delivering confident and focused brand expression, encouraging discussion and sharing of inspirational references to maintain relevance with our target market.

Digital

Work with the Head of Digital and their team to drive commercial and best practice user experience within digital design.

Support and lead the digital designers in the development and execution of all assets. You will work closely with the digital trading team to understand the design requirements online and then direct the digital design team to execute in a consistent way.

Champion a digital first approach to all creative from art direction through to design of graphical assets.

Photography

Responsible for producing all brand lifestyle photography, selecting photographers, freelance art-directors (as necessary), stylist and locations to deliver on-brand imagery. Evolving and maintain a strong visual identity for all photography across cut-outs, square ups and lifestyle imagery. Working with the shoot production executive to produce all lifestyle shoots in a cost effective manner.

Agencies

Work with the Head of Marketing to support in the direction of external agencies and creative suppliers such as supporting in creative guidelines and creative handwriting to ensure brand consistency.

Seasonal direction

Work closely with the Head of Product Design and Head of Buying to understand the vision for product collections and use this to inform and develop a seasonal marketing orientation that guides messaging, creative concepts and store assets, photography, content and PR.

Work with the Head of Marketing and content team to deliver engaging content to enhance the brand messages and support commercial requirements; such as on site features, telling the brand story and engaging audience relevant lifestyle content.

Inspiration

Be a source of inspiration by bringing new ideas and concepts to Habitat in line with our brand purpose and target client needs.

Marketing

Working closely with the Head of Marketing to deliver campaigns in line with the marketing strategy such as direct mail pieces, tactical advertising and materials to support design collaborations.

Experience and skills

5+ years as a creative lead with multi-discipline experience
Portfolio and proven experience in creating and maintaining visual brand identity within relevant sectors
Experience of art-direction and producing large scale interior shoots
Significant experience, working on website design, digital marketing and print based and projects from initial concept through to final implementation
Relevant professional experience working in-house or an advertising or creative agency
Experience managing a medium size team
Highly creative; able to inspire creative team and teams around them
Experience in homeware categories highly desirable
Deep understanding of UI/UX design and customer behaviour in an ever-changing digital landscape
Strong understanding of the aesthetic nuances of social media, product, editorial, and commercial campaigns
Ability to communicate creative brand strategy in a clear, concise manner company-wide
Strong communication skills; diplomatic and collaborative in approach
Driven; able to work within a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change
Highly self-motivated; ability to take vision and product strategy and translate into creative direction and plans
Good understanding of relevant design packages
