Home Delivery is a dynamic department responsible for supporting the operational delivery team. We ensure that the financial impact is considered when making operational decisions and support the team with analysis and business cases. This role would focus on supporting the Home Delivery area for all of Sainsbury’s Argos including the exciting and transformative Grow 2man Strategy.
In this role, you will business partner the Home Delivery Director and the Senior Home Delivery Operations Team to support the delivery of their objectives and provide insight and challenge to drive operational performance and influence decision making. You will lead and drive improvements in our procedures and processes to facilitate the production of high quality reports & insight, capital submissions, budgets and forecasts. You will be responsible for leading and developing a pro-active team who control management accounting and reporting to ensure that all data is accurately recorded and that all current accounting conventions are being adhered to.
As Finance Manager, you will lead key projects where you will be involved in large strategic decisions which will significantly change the way we operate Home Delivery and drive growth over the next five years. Reporting into the Logistics Financial Controller, you will provide both a short and long term views of pertinent issues concerning the Home Delivery Operation and identify any material risks and opportunities to the main business.
As Home Delivery Finance Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
Manage and retain strong relationships with our internal stakeholders, being both the operational team and the relevant finance teams. This is also relevant for our third-party partners, especially our largest 3PL, DHL.
Lead the team to create robust weekly outturns, budgets and forecasts to then present to the Home Delivery leadership team, including our exec member.
Be the key finance lead for the Two Man growth project. Ensure you are part of the operational developments, not only to keep all financial analysis and business cases up to date but to ensure you have a detailed understanding and can be confident all decisions have been through the appropriate level of rigour and challenge.
Evaluate both tactical and strategic projects, understanding how each will impact on the growth of the company and retrospectively ensure that the stated benefits of each project are delivered to the business.
Support the delivery of operational improvement initiatives and implementation of internal and external best practices to enhance process efficiency and quality of outputs.
Align our priorities for the year to be in-line with those of the Home Delivery leadership team and lead any relevant changes for the whole Home Delivery team.
Lead and manage the development of the team.
Your skills & experience will include:
Qualified Finance Manager (ACCA/CIMA) with ideally 3+ years post qualified experience.
Strong commercial acumen, curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries and ability to understand key business drivers.
Ability to operate and influence effectively to the highest levels of finance leadership.
Be assertive, challenging and confident with strong inter-personal skills.
Experience of working with and presenting analytical results to non-finance users.
Strong coaching and team leadership skills.
Strong excel, analytical and presentation skills, with attention to detail.
Experience in a large company environment, preferably retail (desired)
