As Accounting and Reporting Assistant Analyst you will be responsible to support and drive the execution of standard period-end transactions in conjunction with the finance business partner teams. You will drive completion of accurate and representative financial statements in line with agreed deadlines and quality standards. This will involve facilitating and supporting the production of standardised reporting suites for Business Partnering teams to drive performance in collaboration with the business. You will identify and evaluate opportunities to improve the accounting and reporting processes across a range of business areas.
As Accounting and Reporting Assistant Analyst, your main responsibilities will include:
Execute standard period-end transactions and journals in the core finance system submitting outputs to the Accounting & Reporting Manager for review.
Produce and Develop standardised reporting suites for Business Partnering teams to support the continuous drive of business results.
To own and drive the delivery of period-end results to the agreed deadlines and standards, ensuring that the results are communicated in a timely and accurate way with a clear articulation of the drivers of performance and impacts.
Ensure that the appropriate control mechanisms are in place and followed.
Support external audit preparation.
Support the delivery of Finance improvement initiatives and implementation of internal & external best practices to enhance process efficiency and quality of outputs including:
- Data quality improvements.
- Elimination, simplification and/or automation of transactional activities (e.g. journals, period end, reconciliations etc.)
- Reporting improvements e.g. report rationalisation, design and implementation.
Your skills & experience will include:
Graduate calibre professional studying towards a professional accounting qualification ideally ACCA or CIMA.
Some experience of working with and presenting analytical results to Non-Finance users.
Good inter-personal skills, an empathetic nature and a good sense of humour.
Be enthusiastic, positive and have ability to proactively engage with key Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
Be a team player with good presentation and communication skills (both verbal & written)
Ability to communicate and influence effectively across multiple grades and departments.
Possess can do attitude with an adaptable approach suitable to operating at pace and switching between priorities.
Strong systems skills including Excel (to macro level advantage), Access, Business Objects and Essbase.
Ability to consolidate large volumes of data whilst adhering to tight timescales.
Experience in a large company environment, preferably retail.
