UAT Test Manager
Based in Milton Keynes with trips to Stafford and London.
This is an exciting opportunity, as it can be full time, part time or a job share, so for the right person, we have the hours to suit you.
Sainsbury’s Argos is on a mission!
To create the industry’s best customer and colleague centric experiences by constantly exploring new and innovative combinations of ideas and technologies; by listening to each other, our customers and our partners; and by never compromising on the quality of the customer experience even if it means we fail before we succeed.
We’re currently seeking a Test Manager who’s got a passion for building and developing a stand out team that not only helps protect the business, but also help us drive it forward and get things right first time.
Day to day you’ll work closely with your test team who are split across Milton Keynes and Stafford as well as the Engineering and Product teams based across London Victoria and Milton Keynes. There will be a mixture of travel and jumping on video calls to get the best out of the distributed teams. The teams scope covers the Contact Centre, Home Delivery and Stores.
At Argos we’ve got a real patchwork of systems, much like you’d expect of any retailer that started out in 1972. Some of those systems are monoliths that require quite a bit of manual/UI testing, but we’re also deploying new cloud based, event driven micro-services which rely much more heavily on test automation. We’ve been investing in automation but we’ve still got quite a way to go and the team are just starting on an apprenticeship scheme to further bolster the teams development.
In this role, you’ll lead the team to they are organised so we can deliver on all of the planned releases that are in flight at any given time. You’re responsive to things when they change and make sure the team provide clear and concise updates to all the other teams and stakeholders involved. You’ll be pragmatic and balance how much scope we test against how long we have before we deploy a change or feature.
You’ve likely worked in a retail environment before and appreciate the importance of focusing on the customer
You’ll be focused on developing your team to make sure we’ve got the right skills to support the business as our operations evolve.
You’ll be a motivator. Sometimes we need to move quicker than we might ideally like. You’ll play a key role in helping your team step up when we need them.
You’ll understand where to use automation and where not to and help your team get the balance right.
You’ll be able to adjust the way your team are organised to deliver on what’s most important when things change but be able to escalate when you need to for further support.
You have a willingness and humility to take a setback, dust yourself off and come back ready to learn in an ever changing atmosphere.
