Right now, our outstanding Print Management Team is on the hunt for a Print Buyer to support and procure all services required for the production of printed marketing materials (print, paper, direct mail, artwork, repro, haulage etc) and manage day to day print production for all Sainsbury’s Group businesses.This is a real technical buying role, so I'm afraid if you're a generalist buyer, then this probably isn't for you because we need procurement professionals with a real technical understanding of print.
As you would expect of a business that moves at the pace Argos does, no two days tend to be the same, however some of your key responsibilities will involve.
Identify the best suppliers to meet the business needs and negotiate contracts to improve overall profitability, quality, service and price.
Responsible for planning and supplier selection. To present supplier selections and rationale ensuring all Divisional and Corporate objectives are met.
To demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the UK and European markets, for both Commercial Print and Direct Mail, gaining a full understanding of the suppliers and competitors operating in the market place.
Maintain a constant awareness of market factors ensuring the continuing competitiveness of Sainsbury’s Group publications. Providing comparative price analysis in support of proposals.
In conjunction with the Print & Procurement Manager formulate strategies for the development of print and direct mail to drive competitive advantage for the Group in this area.
To manage production of Print and Direct Mail for the Sainsbury’s Group business, ensuring on time and accurate delivery of several campaigns at any one time, working closely with the relevant departments influencing them to ensure deadlines and budgets are met. Continually reviewing workflows to ensure competitive advantage for the Group. Completing all due diligence and QC checks eg artwork, colour proofs, data counts, personalisation briefs etc as required.
To manage all production through 2 x Account Executives, supporting and coaching their direct reports to encourage development and maximise potential.
To work with internal customers, suppliers and creative agencies to build relationships and to develop strategic campaigns that maximise ROI, challenging stakeholders to consider new formats, innovation, testing.
