The Group Investment Appraisal team provides excellent investment appraisal and decision support service to the Sainsbury’s group for major property investments including new sites, acquisitions, divestments and refurbishments to ensure effective commercial investment decisions are taken.
The team ultimately acts as the guardian of the corporate Investment Appraisal assumptions, investment hurdles, modelling integrity, sensitivity analysis criteria and major post investment review analysis for the PLC Board. The team also leads financial support to the Argos Stores in Stores investment program including synergy tracking, and provides business partnering support to the Head of Property Acquisitions & Development.
The role will deliver financial support to the food transformation investment program liaising with Property, Retail and Finance on all opportunities, design, evaluation and programming. This will involve producing forecasting, analysis and performance commentary including capital & opex cost control, budgeting, forecasting and tracking, as well as food transformation programme capital.
As Food Transformation Appraisal Analyst , your main responsibilities will include:
Lead Finance liaison with Property and Retail on all Food Transformation opportunities, design, evaluation and programming.
Deliver Food Transformation investment assumptions, evaluations, scenario analysis & sensitivity testing controlling integrity of investment and synergy calculations with guidance from the Investment Appraisal Manager.
Oversee progress of agreed action plans and help drive these through to completion.
Provide Capital and Opex budgeting and forecasting and tracking of Food Transformation initiatives with guidance from the Investment Appraisal Manager.
Manage relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Share relevant tools and lessons learnt with Finance & Non-Finance stakeholders.
Your skills & experience will include:
Qualified accountant with indicative 0-3 post-qualification experience (or studying towards a professional accounting qualification)
Practical understanding, experience of strategic investment programs in the retail industry or similar.
Expertise of major property investment evaluations would be desirable.
Experience gained in supporting complex finance projects.
Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner.
Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel ability to include modelling.
