We are currently looking to recruit a Home Delivery MI Development Manager. This is an amazing opportunity to support the ongoing decision making within the Home Delivery channel by providing access to facts & analysis anytime, anywhere on any device.
In a nutshell, the role is about:
To provide operational teams with information to support decision making through innovative & visual data outputs with customer at heart of every decision.
Lead a team of analysts to elicit, analyse, design & deliver BI solutions for Home Delivery and planning, prioritising and managing the demand to time & cost.
Lead BI work streams in major change initiatives.
Take responsibility for one or more functional area (s) providing those stakeholders with single point of contact for support, insight and enhancement requests to the BI team.
Work in partnership with BI development team, 3rd party suppliers and IS teams to deliver high quality solutions to agreed timescales meeting the agreed business objectives.

Whilst you will be an experienced MI Development Manager the role will cover 6 key responsibility areas:
People Management: (15%)
Lead and manage MI Analysts (2-4 people), ensuring that all services and processes are effectively delivered including; planning, resource allocation, reporting, quality reviews, project administration and standards.
To manage, coach and motivate the team members
Project/Resource Management (15%)
Manage and prioritise project & work requests to agreed timescales for completion; communicating timely & appropriately any constraints, issues & delays.
As appropriate use recognised project management techniques to manage scope, status reporting with control of issues & risks to manage upgrades and major programmes of work.
Solution Architect (5%)
Working with the Data Warehouse manager, develop a clear roadmap for the data warehouse use ; aligned with IS strategic developments
Using knowledge of industry best practice approaches and adapt them for the Home Delivery BI function to support best practice for requirements gathering, testing
Ensure all proposed solutions are consistent with technical guidelines & roadmap.
Customer Engagement: (20%)
To engage regularly with the business teams to provide them with a contact point, keeping them aware of current and future developments and to pro-actively challenge and propose improvements to the process and/or reporting solutions.
Solution Requirements & Design: (20%)
To elicit detailed requirements for stakeholders ensuring detailed requirements, formats, audience with clear and unambiguous definitions, assumptions & constraints.
Engage with stakeholders to ensure agreement to the requirements, design, testing & implementation occurs
Design end to end solution and as appropriate liaise with technical teams to ensure compliance to necessary standards, minimise ongoing support & duplication of data and best practice. Providing appropriately detailed functional specifications for the designated development resources (internal or external)
Solution Development & Testing: (25%)
To develop as appropriate to the functional area(s) enhancements to existing solutions and develop new reports/dashboard from existing data sources..
Undertake Acceptance & Performance Testing for developed solutions
Implement the solution with the business areas ; managing both the technical deployment activities and the end recipient process, training & adoption tasks.
So that’s what I will be responsible now onto what I need to have to be successful in this role:
Educated to Higher Education standard ideally graduate level or equivalent in a mathematical, scientific, statistical or IT related discipline.
Proven experience involved in the development of business information.
Good understanding of business processes; within a supply chain or retail environment.
Good communication, inter-personal, influencing and presentation skills.
Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects/assignments both within a team and individually.
Ideally practical experience of working with project methodologies such as Prince 2 or Agile methods.
Strong knowledge & practical application of database query language (SQL).
Strong knowledge and experience of at least 2 reporting development tools
e.g PowerBI, Business Objects, Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS,SSAS), QlikView, Tableau.
Some experience, knowledge & capability in data base administration, ETL & IS development languages such as Python, R to enable more advance reporting analysis.
Ideally understanding & use of some Statistical Analysis (Descriptive & Comparative)
