The Sainsbury’s Electrical Consumables/New Tech team are looking for an Assistant Buyer who is driven to deliver results in a diverse fast paced product area to join them. The New tech product areas range from Acer laptops to Panasonic house phones, and encompasses brands from Amazon to Zagg.
The successful candidate will have experience of negotiating costs, identifying on trend product, and developing strong supplier and internal relationships. The role will encompass reviewing product ranges on a regular basis as well understanding customer shopping behaviours across varying product categories.
You’ll be responsible for carrying out the sourcing and selection strategy of a number of tech products, with the aim being to deliver great products at fair prices to our customers – they are at the heart of everything we do.
You will work cross functionally with the Buying and Merchandising teams so you will be a confident communicator with a strong sense of team spirit. We work to both long and short timelines so the ability to be unflappable in the ever-changing world of retail is essential.
It will be crucial that range launch timescales are met and ensuring agreed levels of good, better and best products are bought in line with the overall department strategy.
What I need to know
Interest in commercial issues, previous Buying experience preferred
Passion for product, balanced with understanding need for commercial acumen

Ability to coach junior members of staff, particularly with business processes, tools and systems
