Transport Finance Manager

Exciting new opportunity has become available for a Transport Finance Manager reporting into the Distribution Finance Manager within Sainsbury’s Argos.

The Role

As Transport Finance Manager, you would business partner the Transport and Primary Solutions Operations Team to support the delivery of their objectives and provide insight and challenge to drive operational performance and influence decision making. You would need to ensure that the Distribution Finance Manager has both short and long term view of pertinent issues concerning the Transport Operation and identity any material risks and opportunities to the main business.

As Transport Finance Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

Support the Transport Leadership Team by providing timely information, professional advice and interpretation of data to actively participate in the decision-making process within the Operation.
Provide challenge and insight to financial results and commentaries provided by the 3PLsto ensure transparency and focus.
Actively provide governance of the 3PL finance relationships, ensure that the stated benefits of each project are delivered to the business.
Collaborate with Distribution colleagues (including Third Parties) to act on decisions to close gaps in actual financial performance vs. target.
Own the process of budgeting & forecasting for Transport, obtaining mutual commitment and agreement and subsequently reviewing performance deviations and advising of required future corrective actions in review and ad-hoc team meetings.
Communicate effectively with the leadership team on a regular basis and provide appropriate challenge to ensure that budgetary and financial control is being applied, therefore securing the delivery of financial forecasts
Deputise for the Distribution Finance Manager as and when required and provide development support to the wider Logistics Finance Team.

Your skills & experience will include:

Qualified accountant
Strong commercial acumen, curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries and ability to understand key business drivers
Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
Creative and solution-focused
Strong analytical skills, Excel & Access skills and attention to detail
Experience of managing, influencing and challenging stakeholders, holding others accountable
Experience in a business-facing Finance role
Experience in a large company environment, preferably Retail or Logistics
Experience in presenting to and communicating with senior Finance and non-Finance stakeholders
