The Financial Accounting Team will provide the financial controls to safeguard our business and provide accurate and insightful numbers to understand performance. This team provides assurance of accuracy of accounts, liaising with Audit and Sainsbury Group to provide understanding of company performance with an appetite to ensure risks and opportunities relating to sales and margin are identified, understood and mitigated where possible.
As Gross Margin Accounting Manager you will have technical accounting expertise for all Gross Margin areas including Argos For Business (AFB) accounting & Direct Imports. The role is required to deliver period, quarter and yearly reporting for gross margin, (P&L, Balance Sheet & Cash), analysing commercial drivers for Exec, Audit and external Stakeholders. This will include providing accounting expertise and control of operational processes relating to Gross Margin / AFB to ensure accurate and representative profit & loss/balance sheet and the management of all risks and opportunities.
As Gross Margin Accounting Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
To deliver period, quarter and yearly reporting for Gross Margin, (P&L, Balance sheet & Cash), analysing commercial drivers for Exec, audit and external stakeholders.
Deliver appropriate financial control and technical knowledge to ensure Sainsburys Argos adhere to Financial regulations and are in line with Sainsburys Group accounting policies.
To deliver budgets, forecasts and strategic plans for Gross Margin to enable management to make decisions based upon the most up to date and accurate views of current and future performance.
To provide accounting expertise and control of operational processes relating to Gross Margin / Argos for Business to ensure accurate and representative profit & loss/balance sheet and the management of all risks and opportunities.
Areas of responsibility include Sales to Gross Margin accounting, Direct Imports / FX / RO accounting, Stock Revaluation & Supplier Funding, Strategic Assumptions for Costing Model and Final Pricing.
Establish a performance culture, leading, motivating & developing a team of 7 finance professionals.
Your skills & experience will include:
Qualified Finance Professional (ideally 3yrs+ PQE)
Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
Strong analytical skills, Excel skills and attention to detail
Ability to operate and influence effectively
Strong commercial acumen, curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries
Assertive, challenging and confident with strong inter-personal skills
Experience of working with and presenting analytical results to Non-Finance users
Sound coaching and team leadership and development skills
Track record of value creation
