As a Buyer within our Bikes and Camping category you will not only be focusing on the operational running of the day to day category but also the opportunity to lead the future direction of Bikes and Camping at Argos, both in store and at the forefront of digital retailing.
This is an opportunity to develop market beating product ranges that must reflect on trend design and lifestyle for our customers from concept. Therefore, you must have passion and ability to interpret trends into suitable product ranges.
Day to day you will use digital data and product knowledge to generate short and long-term actionable trading plans to deliver margins. You will capitalise on those ideas through the deployment of a variety of trading strategies, commercial negotiations and collaborate with different functions such as merchandising and digital teams.
Looking further ahead, you will be formulating a commercial buying strategy which will cover many different areas that are crucial for business success. Once this is set you will work passionately with others to implement this and review to assess whether you have delivered a commercially viable range that can withstand market competition. Therefore, you will be heavily customer and competition focused for expert product and range development.
You’ll need a flair for innovative thinking and some pretty impressive organisational skills as well. Add to that a talent for hitting targets, and we should definitely talk.

As a Buyer, your main responsibilities will be:
Shaping and implementing the strategic direction and financial plans for your range
Own brand product development
Delivering promotions and ranges to your target customers
Negotiating with your suppliers whilst creating sustainable partnerships
Planning and executing the sourcing of both domestic and non UK products
Monitoring and driving sales through targeted promotional activity
As a Buyer, your skills & experience will ideally include:
Buying within retail
International sourcing experience
Sound commercial acumen
Using complex data to analyse forecasts and sales figures
Setting commercially viable margins
Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
Acting with pace in a structured and organised manner
Putting customers at the heart of your decisions
Innovative, adaptive, enquiring and challenging mind
