Operational Risk Manager

As Operational Risk Manager within the Commercial and Marketing (C&M) Division you will support the day to day 1st line implementation and embedding of operational risk management elements of AFS’ Enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework. You will challenge peers and colleagues in respect of their ongoing operational risk management.

You’ll be joining Argos Financial Services (AFS) where our aim is to make life better every day for Argos customers. We help customers afford and protect what matters most, offering products and services including Credit, Warranties & Insurance.

As Operational Risk Manager you will:

Provide specialist support and guidance to colleagues and peers in C&M on all aspects of operational risk management good practice and adherence to AFS’ Enterprise-wise Risk Management Framework

Support the delivery of proactive and risk-based supervision, monitoring, oversight and MI.

Review and create quality action plans to identify areas of control weakness, and timeliness of progress in delivering improvements.

Participate in risk governance arrangements to provide specialist input, direction and challenge when matters with a substantive operational risk dimension are considered.

Support the development and delivery of effective MI and reporting on the Division’s management of its risk exposures.

Work with peers and colleagues to embed a culture of excellence in operational risk and control management within the Division.

As Operational Risk Manager you will have:

Experience of working within a risk management function
Ability to identify material weaknesses in key controls and to propose pragmatic solutions that are sensitive to the wider commercial environment in which the business operates;
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, working at operational levels across the business;
Ability to propose strong, constructive risk management solutions that balance commercial, customer and regulatory considerations in a proportionate way good understanding of the FCA’s regulatory approach and expectations in respect of risk management in a financial services firm
