Inhouse Lawyer

As In-house Lawyer you will be providing effective and timely legal advice on a broad range of specialist and complex legal matters to support the business.

You will be joining Financial Services where our aim is to make life better every day for Argos customers. We help customers afford and protect what matters most, offering products and services including Credit, Warranties & Insurance

As In-house Lawyer you will be responsible for:

Drafting and negotiating agreements with suppliers and third-party outsourcing partners;
Drafting and negotiating agreements with third party providers of credit and insurance products e.g. insurance distribution agreements
Drafting and advising on customer-facing terms and conditions.
Taking the time to understand the relevant business areas to be able to provide targeted and relevant advice.
To work collaboratively with colleagues and business stakeholders to ensure our products and business processes provide compliant and good outcomes for customers and our business.
Assembling research and produces clear, accurate findings
Analysing legal and commercial issues in detail and is able to explain complex issues
Drafting advice, product terms, legal correspondence and other complex documents in plain English with minimal or no supervision
Preparing and giving advice with minimal or no supervision
Stakeholder Management
Complying with the Bank's supervision rules and guidance
Complying with all risk management policies and procedures

As an In-house Lawyer you will have:

Solicitor qualification.
A detailed working knowledge and experience of English contract law in a regulated financial services context
A general grounding in financial services regulation and experience of consumer credit (either in private practice or in-house) would be beneficial

Up to date working knowledge/understanding of relevant areas of law
Up to date knowledge of commercial developments in specialist field
A deep understanding of the retail banking world, products and services, and related main legal developments/issues relating to the role

Good Time management Skills.

Good IT skills
Excellent team player skills with ability to working closely with others to deliver results
Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
An ability to think and reason logically

Exceptional communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level.
