As a Procurement Specialist you will have end to end involvement in the buying process from defining the requirements for Goods and Services, through to managing supplier relationships. You will lead the assigned Category to deliver best-in-class category strategies that align to the business priorities, take advantage of supply market opportunities, and deliver significant benefits to the business. This role will typically be responsible for negotiating & advising on total spend relating to contracts totalling up to and exceeding £100m.

As a Procurement Specialist your main responsibilities will include:
Liaise with key stakeholders to identify procurement opportunities that meet the business needs and deliver savings and value to the Home Retail Group P&L account.
Support the Group Procurement Leadership Team in the delivery of additional projects and major contracts as required.
Contribute to the development of the Group Procurement Department through initiating and implementing improved processes, systems and policies.
Conduct front end procurement activities, including market research, supplier evaluation, managing tender process etc.
Manage end to end negotiations from carrying out financial checks, agreeing contracts and liaising with Legal team to supply contracts.
Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the supply market, covering all relevant markets and supplier bases, including the relevant legislation and policies.
Maintain a working knowledge of both legislation and policies relating to defined categories.
As an advocate for Group Procurement, adopt a professional approach at all times, promoting the process, procedures and best practice.
As a Procurement Specialist your skills & experience will ideally include:
Educated to degree standard or similar level of qualification.
Qualified by Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, or to an equivalent level.
Demonstrable leadership capability in particular leading through teams.
Extensive direct & in-direct buying experience with “blue chip” companies.
Excellent negotiation skills with strong cross category expertise.
Detailed knowledge of contract law, structuring & documentation of agreements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence internal stakeholders at all levels.
Good team player able to work effectively as part of the Group Procurement Team, the Procurement Leadership Team and as part of virtual teams across business.
