Marketing Planner

Argos have a Marketing Planner opportunity available, working within our Marketing Planning team. The team offer the opportunity for a passionate individual to join us and bring new ideas to develop our strategies and excite our customers.

As a Marketing Planner at Argos your role will be to create seasonal and category marketing strategies and plans to meet the business and customer needs. Not for the faint hearted, the team are passionate and brave with a great team spirit. They use data and customer information to drive decisions and new ideas whilst managing and influencing key stakeholders throughout the business from Trading teams, Marketing, Digital and external agency partners.

As the UK’s leading multi-channel retailer, Argos provides a unique offer of choice, value and convenience to meet customer needs, selling products through over 800 stores, website and mobile apps. Customers can make purchases from stores across the UK and Ireland, online or over the phone. They can also pick up their goods from a store or have them delivered the same day.

Key responsibilities:

To support the creation of the Annual Customer Marketing Plan, working closely with relevant marketing and digital departments and third parties such as agencies. Gather and interpret insight from all relevant internal departments and external market information to help inform and shape the plan.
Create and maintain campaign marketing plans that align to the seasonal calendar (Spring, Summer etc.), ensuring that activity is aligned to the agreed objectives, strategy, budget and timelines. Work closely with the campaign and promotions team to ensure that plans are implemented to brief.
For priority categories such as toys and home, and for key services such as Fast Track and credit develop Marketing plans to meet agreed objectives. Develop campaign briefs and work closely with agencies, marketing, digital and trading to ensure that the activity is delivered.
Brief and manage any relevant market research and customer data insights identified as necessary for the campaign development. Work closely with the CMI & digital insights teams to ensure that the output meets the brief requirements. Combine all relevant information to make informed recommendations that help shape the campaign plans
Manage the communication to stakeholders about the campaigns, how they are progressing and activity that has been agreed and is being implemented.
With the Senior Marketing Planner and the Campaign and Promotions team;

Govern the implementation of the campaigns to ensure that timelines and budgets are adhered too and that the activity meets the objectives
Manage the review process to report back to the wider business learnings and recommendations for future activity

Your skills and experience:

Strong planning and project management skills and business and marketing acumen
Excellent communication and listening skills
Excellent influencing skills – demonstrated by strong interpersonal skills and persuasive and negotiation skills
Ability to generate new ideas and initiatives to solve needs and objectives
Strong customer focus (internal, external and end-consumer).
Ability to write and deliver clear briefs.
Ability to make things happen- proactive can do attitude and the skills to action plans.
Honest and open attitude with a willingness to explore new ideas taken from a wider team.
Proven leadership skills and ability to bring parties with different needs and objectives together to fulfil a business / customer need.
Confident and experienced at leading teams and celebrating successes with those teams with the ability to develop individuals through great performance management.
