Development Manager - In-Home Services

The role:

Our rapidly growing Home Delivery team is looking to recruit a ‘Development Manager – In-Home Services’. In-home Services are a growing area of interest within retail and represents a significant opportunity for Argos. This unique role will enable you to directly impact the development of innovative in-home services roadmap, working closely with colleagues across the business to define, pilot and implement our plan creating a market leading home delivery operation.

Here’s a few more details of what your key focus will be:

Explore Opportunity – Define the size of the opportunity for in-home services, considering the competitor landscape and working closely with commercial strategy to understand the role this could play across our categories
Project management: Define project scope, deliverables, project plan, business case and business change impact.
Develop roadmap - Shape clear options/recommendations for our future in-home services roadmap, including exploring considerations like potential operating models, branding, etc
Define requirements / change impact – Identify new IS/digital/operational/commercial/ other business change requirements
Pilot – Explore opportunities to better understand customer appetite and potential size of opportunity
Drive delivery – ensuring deliverables/outcomes deliver the project intent at pace, tracking progress, identifying and mitigating risks, providing project updates, managing budget and keeping stakeholders informed/engaged
Leadership: Lead cross functional teams - you will help drive and deliver the project using strong communication, flexibility and the right balance between driving the project and taking people with you, exhibiting our values and agilities

So that’s what I will be responsible for now onto what I need to have to be successful in this role:

Strategic thinking with an entrepreneurial spirit – Experience taking a high-level business idea and exploring the potential opportunity to develop a clear strategy and roadmap to engage stakeholders
A rounded skill set enabling you to see a proposition, question or challenge from every angle (customer, competitor, market, commercial, operational) allowing you to identify tactical and strategic business improvements
Strong project/programme management experience
Experience of developing well considered business cases, with the ability evaluate sales/cost/margin impact of any proposed changes
Experience managing complex, highly cross-functional business change projects
Comfortable using a variety of styles to either influence other teams to prioritise solutions to issues or to fully manage a key business project right from idea inception through to project delivery.
An ability to translate strategy into action, with a track record of delivering significant and lasting business change
Confident and inquisitive, with well-honed inter-personal skills.
An ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way to wide audiences.
