Home Delivery is a dynamic department responsible for supporting the operational delivery team. They ensure that the financial impact is considered when making operational decisions and support the team with analysis and business cases.
You will business partner the Senior Home Delivery Operations team including the Head of Home Delivery to support the delivery of the Home Delivery objectives, providing insight and challenge to drive performance. This will involve providing pro-active support and analysis actively influencing decision making, and provide financial reports and professional interpretation as required. Deliver day-to-day forecasting and performance commentary building on outputs delivered by the FP&A team and work with the FP&A CoE to control management accounting and reporting ensuring that all data is accurately recorded and that all current accounting conventions are being adhered to.
As Home Delivery Finance Analyst, your main responsibilities will include:
Producing high quality, robust month end accounts and associated management reports including weekly outturns, explanation of results and balance sheet reconciliations.
Support the management team in their decision making process by providing accurate information, professional advice and interpretation/analysis of data.
Review performance and challenge our 3PLs (3rd Party Logistics Partners) to achieve better cost performance without impacting customer service; understand how operational costs flex with volume, to ensure that costs are managed through busy and quiet periods accordingly.
To prepare the budget and forecast, identifying and giving insight into the key movements from the previous submission, and present the results in a clear and comprehensive style. Manage inherent risks and opportunities.
Complete ad-hoc analysis as required e.g. capital investment appraisals.
Build strong working relationships across the Home Delivery operation (including our 3PLs) and the wider Sainsbury’s Argos finance community.
Your skills & experience will include:
Qualified accountant with relevant post-qualification experience
Strong commercial acumen, curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries and ability to understand key business drivers
Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
Strong analytical and Excel skills and attention to detail
Excellent inter-personal skills with ability to build strong relationships across all levels.
Experience managing, influencing and challenging a large and complex set of stakeholders, holding others accountable.
