As Senior Commercial Manager, you will sit within the Product and Commercial Management team of Argos Financial Services where your main objective is to define and monitor all aspects of the “customer value chain” from acquisition through to customer management for all AFS products. With a key focus on understanding each component of the chain, you will ensure a deep understanding of portfolio performance and overall profitability.

As Senior Commercial Manager, you will:
Work cross-functionally across AFS and Sainsbury’s Bank, supporting each functional area of the business to understand their contribution to the overall “customer value chain” and therefore overall profitability. You will support and challenge to identify opportunities to drive improvements in “customer value”. You will also work with these functional areas to drive commercial product initiatives through to completion, ensuring these are implemented effectively, and realise benefit.
Have responsibility for driving key commercial initiatives across the business to improve the overall profitability of the AFS product set.
Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of “customer value reporting” across the AFS product portfolio to drive a deep understanding of portfolio performance across the “value chain”, determining the key drivers of each product’s profitability.
Monitor, evaluate and assess all aspects of profitability across each product, communicating results, conclusions and recommendations to the wider Commercial team.
Act as a business expert on the profitability of the AFS portfolio, feeding into business cases.
Ensure key strategic changes to the portfolio are monitored effectively and their impacts to overall profitability understood and reported.
As Senior Commercial Manager, you will have;
Extensive experience in an analytics role within the financial services industry, preferably within a retail credit or credit card organisation.
P&L management and financial analysis experience including an understanding of NPV modelling.
Experience of involvement in major IT projects and management of small and medium size development projects.
Thorough knowledge of data manipulation techniques with experience of SQL.
High levels of statistical competence with understanding and experience of Multiple Regression, Decision Tree analysis, and use of statistical packages such as SAS or SPSS.
A highly commercial approach with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to think broadly, find links and relationships across complex business problems and produce innovative and pragmatic solutions to manage and deliver change.
